In traditional herbal medicine: The seed is made into a poultice and applied to tumours (Duke. J. A. and Ayensu. E. S. Medicinal Plants of China). The seed is an effective laxative due to its fibrous seed coat (Duke. J. Handbook of Energy Crops).
