(previously with E. lebomboensis) Lembobo Mountains from N. KZN through Swaziland to Mpumalongu on slopes of high ridges and drifts along river valleys where its hot in summer and cold and moist in winter. Suits tropical and warm temperate regions. Full sun or light shade, excellent drainage required. Withstands light frosts.

Toxic due to presence of azoxyglycosides, such as macrozamin and cycasin. Carcinogenic and teratogenic on ingestion .
