Nomenclature

It is described in Parkinson's Theatrum Botanicum of 1640 as 'Polygonatum ramosum flore luteo majus et minus Americanum' - the Greater and Lesse thorow [=through or perfoliate] leaved Solomons seal of America and that it had been brought from Canada by the French.
