Our supplier's notes: "By 1602... is one of the four greater hot Seeds, & consists of very warming dissolving parts, being very good to expel wind out of the Stomach and Bowels, & is frequently put into Glysters for that purpose, as well as given in powder, or infused in Wine: Out'wardly applied, it is of great service in pains of the breast or side."
